Spiritual Journey Day 14 Devotions

Fast: One Meal and TV/Streaming

Scripture:

“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith” Hebrews 12:1a-2a NIV

Thought of the day:

Many times, we enter the presence of God with baggage. We are carrying it on our backs or dragging it behind us. Nevertheless, it hinders and entangles us. According to the verse above, we are to throw it off. But many times through the course of our Christian life we have tried to do this without God’s help, only to fail. So now we must to drag it with us into the presence of God, repent of carrying around the weight of sin we have committed. He knows about it already and wants to help us throw it off. So with His help, I lay it down at His feet and thank Him for His help and ask Him to help me leave it there. Then, as the thought of that baggage pops up, or that sin tries to tempt me, I once again thank God that I gave it all to Him and I rejoice in His love and mercy.

Prayer:

Father, I come to You openly and honestly. I know You didn’t mean for me to carry around baggage. I know You never wanted me to commit sin. I ask You to forgive me for caring around this baggage that I wasn’t meant to carry and I repent of the sin that I have committed. I ask You now to help me to roll it over onto You. I also ask You to help me when the thought comes of the baggage or the temptation to sin again, that You would help me to resist. I thank You for it now. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
